Velocity Software is the world wide recognized leader in z/VM and Linux on System Z ("zLinux") Performance Management, providing facilities for Performance Analysis, Capacity Planning, accounting, and operational support tools. Velocity Software has been producing premier products to support this environment for over three decades.
Successful z/VM and Linux on System Z installations rely on Velocity Software to obtain optimal performance from their z/VM systems and Linux guests, from proof-of-concept to deployment of mission-critical applications.
Velocity Software has a great story that anyone interested in on-prem cloud should understand. We moved our datacenter from a BC12 in California to a brand spanking new Z15 A02 and new DS8910F disk subsystem (very fast) in Columbus - and no one noticed. Websites stayed up, demonstration sites were barely down. Development continues. And most important, we were able to demonstrate how easy it is to install a full z/VM SSI complex and full on-prem Linux on Z cloud on a brand new system in yes, only 2 days. We have a white paper if you would like to have something to show how easy cloud on z really can be implemented.
Velocity Software has announced Version 5 of zVPS, the Velocity Software Performance Suite. Highlights of Version 5:
Velocity Software has announced VSEMON ™, as a no charge feature of zVPS. VSEMON provides full performance management for z/VSE with the ability to measure and report on system data, job data, partition and I/O data, network performance (in conjunction with Barnard Software), and CICS. For a full list of features of VSEMON, please see VSEMON Description.
Since 1988, Velocity Software has led the performance management field for what is now z/VM. Since 2000, Velocity Software has been the world wide leader for performance management for Linux on Z. With the current ability of zVPS to provide full network performance management, full z/VSE performance management, performance management for distributed Linux and Microsoft servers, many of our customers world wide have noticed something missing. We've decided to fill that gap. Our first Beta for zOSMON ™ will go out December 2018! Is it a complete product? Is any performance management really ever complete?
zOSMON ™ works with a very simple SMF record collector on z/OS that ships supported records over to zVPS running on z/VM. This means no overhead on z/OS from your performance management software. We believe in good code (no java), it has to run efficient. Currently zVPS is supporting many Linux servers, z/VM and more, AND consumes less than 1% of ONE IFL. The performance management software should NEVER be the performance problem...
zVIEW, our world recognized web portal into performance data, running on z/VM will now also display z/OS data. When zVPS is supporting a Linux environment, it runs on IFLs, NOT general purpose processors. The SMF records are just one more data source into the zVPS suite and would still run on an IFL if supporting a Linux environment.
By using our z/OS collector versus a heavy product suite to collect the z/OS data, we expect very large savings by customers in terms of z/OS resources. Being able to look at a full enterprise on a SINGLE PANE OF GLASS is a benefit that is hard to overlook. Our pricing model for zOSMON is SIMPLE - VERY simple: One annual price per CEC, irregardless of number of engines. We're using existing technology developed over 30 years. No need to gouge our customers. If you're interested in participating in the beta program or would like additional information please contact email@example.com.

For 30 years, zVPS has been developed as a full performance management solution. Performance management includes these four functions:
There are many components that are included with zVPS to meet the requirements of a full performance management solution. All components are developed with the requirements of 1) Keep it simple, and 2) Minimize overhead. Our performance monitor is NOT your performance problem!
zPRO is getting traction at many installations. zPRO beats any competition for many reasons, including the main one - it works. zPRO utilizes a z/VM native webserver (zVWS), meaning there is no need for the complexity and other difficulties of SMAPI and an additional Linux server just to run Apache. The following use cases are examples of how zPRO customers use zPRO today:
zPRO is NON-INTRUSIVE, meaning it does not require hooks in your system, does not eliminate your ability to manage the system with existing tools, and has no overhead.

How about Windows Server Performance Management? Velocity Software does not charge for managing your Microsoft servers, even if you monitor thousands of them. What can we manage using the standard snmp agent provivded by Microsoft? See the windows performance overview.
