For the first time in our company's history we participated in IBM's ESP program for the new z15 T02. And
let me tell you these last couple of months have been a
pretty cool journey and experience.
From the time that we decided to pursue this idea, I gave my team a very clear project: I want us to go from "Metal to Cloud in two days" and our team took on the challenge. Don't get me wrong, our Cloud on Z is very real and we have been running some of our core corporate projects on it and have helped many customers worldwide implement their Cloud on Z using zPRO, our Cloud Enablement and Management tool. But doing it from zero to full Cloud in two days was a different story, but I know our technology and if this new machine was anything like I had expected, I was sure that it was possible. |
"Cloud on IBM Z is
resilient, secure, and easy, allowing us to go from Metal to Cloud in two days." --Barton Robinson |
And we made that happen: our team managed to
install z/VM 7.1 in a 4-way SSI cluster with TCPIP, RACF
and our Velocity Software cloud enablement and management software suite zVPS and zPRO in only two
days and cloned a total of 155 servers in less than 20
minutes.
And just to show the speed of the z15 and the DS8910F disk subsystem, we cloned 50 2GB Linux servers in only three minutes! With this we've proven that Cloud on Z is real, resilient, secure, easy and extremely fast with the new z15 T02, DS8910F disk subsystem, and Linux on z/VM. |
So before you trust someone else to run your corporate
and core business on their cloud, leverage this great
platform. We at Velocity Software have all the experience needed to show you how to run your private
Cloud on Z.
We want to thank our business partner Vicom Infinity and the IBM ESP team, who have been guiding and supporting us in the past three months to make things happen. -- Barton Robinson CEO, Velocity Software |
