Velocity Software offers performance and capacity planning software, providing products, support and education to meet operational requirements of installations operating z/VM and Linux under z/VM. In 2020, we have added more for zVSE, a z/OS component, docker instrumentation, and support for MongoDB.
Our products are developed, maintained, and supported by experts in performance and capacity planning. Education is provided by the worlds leading experts. We keep the VM and Linux communities up-to-date with performance tuning techiques, training, and technical tips through our Performance Newsletter.
The Velocity Software products are all completely integrated, with each new component being developed as part of the suite. None of the products are "add-ons", with interfaces subject to failure. With Operations, Alerts, and Performance management all integrated, moving from one function to another is seemless. Installations have the ability to "click through" from one function to another as needed.
zVWS, the native z/VM webserver provided by Velocity Software is FAST. This website and many others are hosted using zVWS. Many of our applications such as zVIEW and zPRO are only possible because of having a very fast native webserver. Our brochures for zVPS loads very quickly....
|Product and Subscription Service Offerings||Current Release|
The Velocity Performance Suite is the complete performance package for z/VM and systems running under
z/VM such as Linux, z/OS and VSE.
The suite includes components zMON, zWRITE, zMAP, zTCP, zVWS and z/VIEW. Optional NO CHARGE components include zALERT, zOPERATOR and zPORTAL.
The zMON component analyzes system performance monitor data produced by z/VM.
It generates real-time displays that show key z/VM system performance measurements.
It captures system performance data and records it on disk along with creating history files that are input for zMAP, MXG and NewMICS for enterprise capacity planning requirements.
|zWRITE™||The zWRITE component is the real-time monitor data collection facility that reduces monitor data without losing information relevant to proper performance analysis.||188.8.131.52|
The zMAP component is the Monitor Analysis Program that generates historical
management reports to use for in-depth analysis, performance trending and
capacity planning for z/VM and Linux on System z.
Together zMON and zMAP provide a complete z/VM performance monitoring system.
|zTCP™||The zTCP omponent is the network portion that provides for data collection from the z/VM netowkr, Linux and other distributed servers.||184.108.40.206|
|zVWS™||The zVWS component is the Velocity Web Server that provides a full-function web server that allows a browser-based interface to z/VM functions and performance data (and is very fast!).||220.127.116.11|
|zVIEW™||The zVIEW component is the Velocity GUI interface that provides a "point-and-click" environemnt. This is especially helpful for those shops that are declining in z/VM 3270 experience.||18.104.22.168|
The zPRO comonent is the Velocity solution for implementing private clouds as well as
providing an easy-to-use web page for system programmers managing z/VM environments.
A demo site of this product is available!
|zALERT™||The zALERT component is an optional NO CHARGE feature used to create alert functions for z/VM, Linux, networks, VSE, Oracle, Java and more.||22.214.171.124|
|zOPERATOR™||The zOPERATOR component is an optional NO CHARGE feature used to create a full function operations console.||126.96.36.199|
|zPORTAL™||The zPORTAL component is an optional NO CHARGE feature used to maintain your zVPS products via a browser interface.||188.8.131.52|
The zTUNE component is part of Velocity Software's elite performance services!
The component creates a daily report that provides performance advice.
Having zTUNE also provides direct access to the Velocity Software's 100 years of performance solving experience!
|zOSMON™||The zOSMON component is the Velocity Software performance package for z/OS. This product incorporates z/OS SMF data into zVPS!||184.108.40.206|
|VSEMON™||The VSEMON component is the Velocity Software No Charge performance package for VSE. This product incorporates VSE data including CICS, BSI Stack data into zVPS!||220.127.116.11|
|zVRM™||New! The zVRM component is the Velocity Software Resource Manager for managing Linux server configurations to meet current workload requirements.||18.104.22.168|
The zVPS product suite is fully supported based on the support schedule below,
including all components along with zOSMON and VSEMON Version 1 add-ons. (See the component list above).
zPRO, zTUNE and zVWS are also supported based on the following schedule.
Note, we recommend upgrading to the latest releases to take full advantage of new functions, fixes and z/VM compatibility
z/VM systems are complex environments. Without complete and correct performance data, mysterious problems can occur. zVPS collects full performance data on the following:
Velocity Software works closely with other vendors to enable installations to best utilize their system with a minimum of product conflict.
Support for Linux and other platforms is Agentless! Using data collected only via snmp, there are no proprietary or resource intensive agents required for data collection. Microsoft servers and Solaris servers measurements can be seen on the Velocity Software demo site.
To meet service level requirements, performance problems must be solved quickly.
zVPS provides the necessary capacity planning tools for z/VM and Linux on System z systems. Capacity planning requires the following capabilities to allow utilization of all resources to be tracked:
Velocity Software provides performance education worldwide for the z/VM platform. Free hands-on education can be done using our z/VM mainframe cloud. z/VM performance workshops are offered regularly. Seminars are also offered covering performance analysis for z/VM, Linux and other applications.
Velocity Software is the recognized leader — both in product capabilities and in experience — in measurement facilities for consolidation of servers such as Windows or Sun to Linux running under z/VM.
