The zVPS Real-Time Monitor | The zMON component of zVPS is the real-time performance monitoring and analysis machine for z/VM, Linux, VSE and z/OS system and application data |
zMON analyzes and records monitor data to give up-to-the-minute performance information. This information is gathered for z/VM, Linux, VSEn, z/OS systems and many applications. This information can then be displayed on a 3270 display or via a web interface.
This gives the ability to quickly analyze critical components of the system (such as CPU, storage, network, etc) and applications (such as Linux, OpenShift, MongoDB, etc) to pinpoint issues and potential issues.
As new features, capabilities and applications are added to the environment, Velocity Software will add monitoring capabilities!
Features and Benefits:
- zMON provides a complete display facility with hundreds of screens that show data from high level overviews to detailed susbsystem displays that are updated every minute.
- zMON screens can be tailored both by grouping virtual machines into categories (such as specific Linux servers), by highlighting displays and by setting alerts via the zALERT component.
- zMON is a low-cost, easy to use product that uses very few resources (usually less than 1%) to run. It dynamically reduces the raw monitor data into history files - using very little DASD, which allows for more data to be kept for trending purposes.
- zMON uses a standard interface based on the CP monitor facility. It is easy to install and does not have any 'hooks' into CP so it does not need to be upgraded with z/VM. Releases of zMON are always ready for new releases of z/VM and backward compatible with all supported releases of z/VM.
- zMON will format data to send to other performance products such as MICS and MXG - see Vendor Interfaces
- zMON reports show Linux process information via Velocity provided MIBs which give more information than any other product.
