Avoid excessively large console log files and not only have daily log files but be able to purge older console files that may not be needed anymore.
Purge Spool File Management - define a set of rules and a time of day to evaluate all your spool files to clean up. The rules you set will keep spool files you determine are very important, such as system dumps, etc and purge spool files that are no longer needed, such as console logs that are older than 90 days for example.
