zTCP
The zVPS Network Data Collector | The zTCP component of zVPS provides performance data collection for network devices and servers |
zTCP is a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) client that runs on z/VM and measures the performance of Linux hosts and applications running almost anywhwere.
It runs in a service machine that writes performance data received from SNMP to the standard VM monitor data stream. The zMON and zMAP machines then process the data.
To manage multiple TCP/IP networks, IP addresses, physical network connections and security authorizations are required.
Features and Benefits:
- zTCP can measure any SNMP-compliant host or application - including z/VM, Linux, Windows and most Unix networks.
- zTCP collects a vast amount of information including: connection times, client performance data and TCPIP layer data.
- zTCP also collects application data. This includes MongoDB, Oracle, Docker and GPFS via a Velocity provided MIB.
- zTCP can also monitor VSE systems using the supplied SNMP function that shows system related data. Velocity provides a plugin that also shows partition (job) information.
