User DASD Data Analysis

Specifics - DASD performance analysis for users:

If a user/server is waiting on I/O, it will show on the ESAXACT screen/report. If the ESAXACT screen shows a user/server waiting on I/O, go to the system DASD screens to help determine the issue.
If a user/server experienced an issue but the cause is not known, check the ESAXACT report for SIO or I/O waits over the course of the day.

ESAXACT - Transaction delay analysis. This can show if users are waiting on I/O operations. Helpful DASD information:

  • UserID/Class - This shows the userid/class.
  • SIO - This shows if a user is waiting for input/output operation start.
  • Async I/O - This shows if a user is waiting with asynchronus input/output operation outstanding. Can click (zview) or zoom (z/VM) to see the all of the users in a class.
