User Storage Analysis
Specifics - User storage analysis:
If the system storage analysis has been done. The next step is to look at individual users/servers. Serveral
screens/reports show user storage analysis below.
Helpful ESAMON screens/ESAMAP reports (further explained below):
- ESAUSP2 - User Percent Utilization - shows virtual machine percent utilization of processor/storage/page/spool.
- ESAUSTR - User Storage Analysis - shows virtual and resident storage and paging rates for users/classes.
ESAUSP2 - Shows more virtual machine main storage utilization information. Both screen and report samples:
Resident Actv - This shows the active resident memory for each active user.
Pages/Sec - This shows how much paging is occuring. If the number of spool writes for a userid is over 100,
this is excessive and should be reviewed.
The report can be helpful to show the daily top Classes/Users for each 15 minute
interval.
ESAUSTR - Shows user storage utilization. Both screen and report samples:
IBR - This shows Invalid But Resident pages above and below the 2GB line. Watch for significant changes.
AgeList - This shows the IBR storage in the agelist. The agelist is used by the system's frame
replenishment algorithm when storage is needed. Watch for significant changes.
PreWrite IBR/Agelst - This shows pages either already backed on disk (IBR) or pages already written to disk
(Agelst). If there are high numbers in these lists, it would indicate a problem.
